Shaking of Wrists
Just a quick blog for you today. I enjoy going out to eat with Indians. Not only is the food good (though quite spicy), you eat with your hands. How fun is that? Usually you use 'nan' (a sort of bread) to scoop with, though getting your hands right in the curry and rice is perfectly acceptable as well. But tie this with the fact that apparently everyone feels the need to shake each others hands all the time (well not all the time, but coming and going and you shake EVERYONES hand). But what to do when your hands all messy from eating? Why you offer your wrist instead. Its kinda odd the first time you see it, and I think thats whats going on. But yes, you shake someones wrist instead of their hand if they think their hand is unfit for shaking. Its interesting that is how much they put on the importance of the hand shake.
