Being a white guy

Its kinda funny when I walk around Bahrain. All the taxi's honk at me because I guess I want a ride. I don't. That's why I'm walking, but I guess since I'm white, I just must have money and want to spend it. So I laugh everytime that happens. I also get funny looks. There will be 8 or 9 of us in a car - we don't have enough of them all the time - and people don't think anything of it, just Indians being crazy, until they see me stuck in there with them. Or when I'm in an Indian restaurant with my friends, people wonder why I'm there. Its all quite amusing. Oh, and also, when I go to the Souq (marketplace) everyone always comes out of their stores if they see me and try to entice me with whatever it is that they sell. I talked to my buddy (he's Indian) and he said that when he walks around no one bothers him - unless he's wearing his mp3 player and looks more western that is. Then theres the pricing structure. Indians pay the least, then the Arabs and then those from the west pay the most of all. On one note, its kinda awesome, because I can finally say 'Its because I'm white, isn't it?'. Everyone else gets to say it, and now I finally can. I haven't really bought much in the Souq yet, though I'm sure I'll have to use my bartering skills to their max to make sure I don't get ripped off. Or get one of my Indian friends to go with me and have 'them' buy it. May as well make the system work for me!
